We have had a wonderful response to our Prayer Journals. Our Parish Leadership helped put together a beautiful book that includes every Sunday Gospel until Pentecost. It also has a commentary about the Gospel, which gives insight to help make the words of Jesus make more sense, in light of what he is teaching the people. There is also a question for the week which allows us to ponder the Word of God. For each week there are blank pages for writing one’s thoughts and prayers. It would be interesting to review one’s writings next year to see how God has touched our lives or see what growth has happened or needs to happen in our lives.
You can download the book from our parish website onto your iPad or phone for your use when you are out and about.
It is disappointing that the perception of Catholics is that we do not know the Scriptures very well, or are not familiar with the Bible itself. I am grateful there are enough Catholics who do get it. Every Mass has the Word of God proclaimed to us. One can read the day’s Scriptures before Mass through our website, and other apps or websites. One way to put our Parish theme into practice is to take time to read or listen to God’s Word. We can ponder a word, phrase or idea and reflect on it. This can help us from becoming preoccupied with too many worldly things and enter more deeply into prayer.
Our hope is that our parishioners and many others use these prayer journals to deepen their commitment to follow and live the way of Jesus Christ.
Peace in Christ,
