First Down with Fr. Eric (October 20, 2024)

Posted on: Oct 14, 2024

Dear Friends,

We are seeing a good number of children, young families, teens, and young adults in all our Masses. They are spread out attending different Masses. Our parish wants to bring them and all parishioners together for our ANNUAL FALL FESTIVAL. On Saturday, October 26 beginning with the 4:30 pm Mass, it will be our Family Mass and children are invited to come and even dress in their favorite Halloween costumes. After Mass from 5:30 - 7:30 pm we will gather on the east end of our property for food, games, Trunk or Treat, entertainment, and other offerings. Parents are always looking for safe activities for their kids, teens can gather with their friends and enjoy our Youth Garage with games and food. Parents and older adults can meet new people and see their friends here. It is an evening of fun for everyone.

I am grateful to our Parish Staff, and parishioners who are making sure the evening is good for all who gather.

A reminder to everyone that Halloween does have religious roots. The name means the day or evening before the Holy Day in our Catholic faith, ALL SAINTS DAY, November 1. The ancient practice for Halloween was mocking evil, saying it has no power over us because of our God. The holiday leads us to honor men and women who have lived lives that we honor by serving God and his people, the Saints. The following day, November 2 is ALL SOULS DAY where we remember all those who have died. They are the ones who have gone before us to eternal life and we honor their lives and know we will see them again in God’s kingdom.

Everyone is invited to the free Fall Festival and please feel free to invite neighbors and friends to come along with you.

Peace in Christ,

Fr. Eric
