First Down with Fr. Eric (December 18, 2022)

Posted on: Dec 16, 2022

Dear Friends,

We all know that being a Disciple of Jesus is not easy. We can feel overwhelmed with the challenges of being faithful to the Gospel and being the person we want to be. Yet if we look closely at the Scriptures and listen to who God really is, we learn of the word GRACE. It is a powerful gift given to each one of us by God. It is freely given and no one has to earn it or is given more than the next person. All we need to do is be open to that GRACE from our loving God.

We are a people that encounters God in what we call Sacraments. Sacred moments is the gift of GRACE that is received from God to respond in amazing ways to what God wants us to do. We have all experienced this in our lives in one way or another. We need to reflect on those moments to remember the GRACE we received. This Wednesday, eight Priests are scheduled to be present to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation between 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the church. The GRACE from this sacrament is to know forgiveness, reconciliation and the strength to overcome the temptations we all encounter. It is a life-long process and God is so patient and encouraging to us. We know this by our participation in this Sacrament.

The invitation goes out to everyone to consider taking the time to rejoice in this great gift being offered to all of us.

Blessings as we soon enter into the Christmas season.
