First Down with Fr. Eric (December 1, 2024)
Posted on: Nov 26, 2024
Dear Friends,
During the seasons of Advent and Lent, it is an invitation for all Catholics to consider participating in the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession). Both of these seasons prepare us to celebrate the two great events of salvation history: the Incarnation (Christ takes on human flesh) and Easter, the resurrection, and the promise to share in Jesus' death and resurrection. Reconciliation with God brings our daily lives closer to living the life that God calls us to live.
Our Advent Penance Service will be available online, sent through our email Connection, and available on our website. The purpose of the Penance Service is to prepare us to celebrate the Sacrament during the Advent season. Confessions are Saturdays 3:00 - 4:00 pm in the church. On Wednesdays, December 4 and 11 during Advent in the church, 2 priests are available from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. On December 18 there will be 10 priests scheduled to hear confessions in the church.
Every season we welcome many people back to the Sacrament who have not participated in many years. It is a joy to receive them and if you happen to be one of these people, please know this is the time to return to this most beautiful Sacrament. The worst that can happen is you will know the mercy and love of God and receive forgiveness for all your sins. Yes, this message is for you who are reading this right now. The Lord is inviting you to know his mercy. Blessings to everyone this Advent season.
Peace in Christ,
Fr. Eric
