First Down with Fr. Eric (April 27, 2025)

Posted on: Apr 27, 2025

Dear Friends,

Football practice starts tomorrow as I begin my 16th season at Sunnyslope. The weather will be mostly hot during many upcoming practices and it is a challenge to have the team work hard when no one watches or notices.

The same thing happens in our parish and churches everywhere. There are dedicated people who work behind the scenes that many times go unnoticed - their hard work, their commitment to rehearse, to follow through with assignments, and to be present to do the work when no one is around to notice. Lent, Holy Week, and Easter only happen when people work together. Please know that our parish staff members put in a lot of time to organize our Masses and events. My thanks to the many parishioners who gave of their time freely to help parishioners and guests have a spiritual experience during this holy season. In football people mostly see the finished result without realizing the hard work that went into it. The same goes for St. Patrick. Thank you to everyone.

My thanks go to Frank Dominguez our parish Administrator who has decided to return to retirement. Frank came out of retirement to be our Liturgist and eventually took on the role of Parish Administrator. I am grateful for the efforts and guidance he has offered our parish. I am sad to see him go, yet he feels the need to return to retirement and we wish him well.

We are currently in the 50 days of the Easter season and we will be breaking open the gift of resurrection. Our theme will continue with BE CHRIST.

Peace in Christ,

Fr. Eric
